Environmental Scientist

Dr. G. Melodie Naja has recently been appointed an Environmental Scientist with the Everglades Foundation in Miami, Florida. She obtained her PhD in Physical Chemistry in Nancy, France. Her original research at the Centre National de Recherche Scientifique (CNRS/CPB in France, 1997-2001) expanded into the fields of ecology, environmental engineering, systems analysis and analytical nano-biotechnology. Following several years of teaching with the Lebanese University, she won a UNESCO-L'OREAL Fellowship for Women in Science (2004-2005) followed by an invitation as a Visiting Professor to carry out research at McGill University in Montreal where she focused on developing mathematical models and computer simulations for environmental and solid/liquid sorption systems. She also became engaged as the Executive Vice-President with BV Sorbex, Inc., a private company commercializing biosorption technology and involved in worldwide consulting for industrial effluent treatment. Her Research Officer position with the National Research Council of Canada allowed her to apply her talents at one of the most prestigious research institutions in Canada, the Biotechnology Research Institute in Montreal. For her achievements she has recently been appointed to the Lebanese Legion of Honor.
